DOCTYPE

This is not meant to a course in DOCTYPE, but you will need this line, or a similar one, as the first line in your web page. If it does not have the DOCTYPE, the browser may treat your html differently and force it to display differently than it was written.

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

<html>
</html>

These tags should enclose your entire web page, with the exception of the DOCTYPE line

<head>
</head>

The head tags includes the non-displayed elements of the web page, including the title, meta-tags, javascript, style sheets ...

<body>
</body>

The body tags include the displayed portion of the web page. Our web page so-far:
